GOG announced its Preservation Program back in November 2024, originally supporting 100 games available to purchase and play, free from the tangles of Digital Rights Management (DRM) software. The initiative is also there to maintain support for these titles on modern systems with “dedicated tech support”.
Games supported by this initiative are tagged as a ‘Good Old Game’ on the GOG store, and 10 new titles have just been added, including The Wolf Among Us and The Last Express. GOG says the Preservation Program helps ensure all games involved are “in their very best versions,” with fixes applied where possible, running smoothly on modern systems “for generations to come”.

Some well-known classics already part of the program include Fallout, The Witcher 1+2, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Dungeon Keeper, Resident Evil 2, and many more. There are six pages of games to sink your teeth into. In other GOG news, Linux users will also be happy to hear that “work has started” on native support of the GOG Galaxy application. While it isn’t essential to play GOG games, it makes it more convenient and user-friendly.
