Key features of this Thunderbot Radiant 16 gaming laptop
RTX 5070 Ti graphics card
The RTX 5070 Ti graphics card is, as expected, a little different from the RTX 5070 Ti desktop. Instead of 16GB of GDDR7, it has 12GB, and is very much designed for high refresh rate 1080p and 1440p gaming. It’s built on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture, which brings with it improvements to ray tracing capabilities via 4th-gen ray tracing cores, and a notably boast to AI performance via its new 5th-gen tensor cores. And of course, there’s MFG, which can boost perceived framerates higher.
Intel Core i9-14900HX processor
This processor is a powerhouse for gaming, multitasking, and productivity, boasting 24 cores, a 5.8GHz boost clock speed, and 36MB L3 cache. It’s a great CPU to pair with something like the RTX 5070 Ti mobile, and allows for very high fps at 1440p easily. It’s also a brilliant option for content creators, demanding creative workflows, like video editing and streaming.
Display
This laptop’s screen comes in at 300Hz and 2.5K resolution, or QHD+ as it’s often known. This is a potent combination for gaming, as it gives you something that can accommodate very high fps gameplay, but also enough resolution to make games look rich in detail and more graphically impressive. There’s even pro-grade color accuracy, which means you can use this laptop for creative work, whether that be graphic design, video editing, or working in 3D.
Storage and RAM
Slightly modest on this front, but fine for most, as this features 16GB of DDR5 and a 512GB SSD. This is where this laptop can be a little more affordable, relatively speaking, as higher-spec models can leap up in price. That being said, 16GB is going to be more than enough for high fps gaming at QHD+ resolution, but you may find that playing some open-world games may eat up most of it, and be slightly sluggish, compared to if you had 32GB. Its storage is fine, just about, but you’re only really going to be able to have a few games on rotation here, if they’re large AAA titles, that is.
Things to consider
For the price, it’s great, but it’s always worth shopping around and seeing what other gaming laptops are out there. If you’re going for something similar in design, but with a pretty impressive OLED screen, I’d say Lenovo Legion laptops are your best bet. They’re often on sale, too, and they’re great if you’re splitting your time between content creation and gaming. Alienware laptops are also excellent, especially if you put a lot of value on build quality and design, and recently I’ve seen several discounted and actually quite affordable. Check this one out, it’s an RTX 5070 Ti model, and it’s at its best price again on Amazon.
