DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – As the Olympics are set to wrap up, students at Garfield Elementary School are wrapping up their own lesson on the Olympics.

Over the past couple of weeks, students have spent their time learning about the Olympics and even practicing in their own version of the Games.

Their physical education teacher said this lesson plan gives students the opportunity to learn about new sports while also building on their teamwork skills.

“It’s just something that you don’t usually see as the Olympics is only every four years, so something completely different for them,” said Andrew Foelske, Physical Education Teacher at Garfield Elementary. “Hopefully it opens up a conversation at home about… I got to do this today in PE …and this was different, and I got to do curling, and something you don’t usually do.”

The Olympic lessons at Garfield Elementary were a collaboration between library, art and physical education classes.
