Hi everyone,
I recently booted up Black Ops on my PS3 and was encountering serious lag and audio clipping on the main menu and I found a workaround I want to share for people having the same issue.
Firstly, I used the toothpaste method on my disc a couple of times in case of any scratches (link provided below)

Secondly, I rebuilt the database on my PS3.
Lastly, I deleted all data for Black Ops in my Game Data Utility (NOT Save Data Utility!) which clears any potentially corrupted cache files.
After all that, there’s a little bit of juddering on initial boot but after a few seconds it’s all good to go. I had this problem for a long time when I played this years ago so it’s great to know there was a solution in the end.
