Chili, N.Y. — While the world is watching the games over in Italy, the Arc Monroe is finding its own way to get into the Olympic spirit.
The organization hosted its Winter Ballantyne Olympics this week.
The weeklong competition will give some of the 15,000 people supported by the Arc a chance to win gold.

The event includes opening and closing ceremonies, as well as adaptive versions of sports such as hockey, target shooting, and even bobsledding.
“Everyone that I walked in today with their gear, they’re smiling, and they’re very ready for everything to begin,” said Julie Keeney, the fitness recreation specialist at the Arc of Monroe.
The Ballantyne Day Services Program supports the unique needs of aging adults, including people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
