Did the 800W lightning bios mod. Was easy. BUT once flashed, I had to wait like 15 minutes for windows after I logged in the first time after reboot, to register the 5090. It showed up as a generic Microsoft graphics controller. But then after I panicked it automatically fixed itself.
Anyways, the results are great. I ran a 15 minute stress test while I took those thermal imaging pictures. Cables don’t seem to pass 60c after only 15 minutes. I DO NOT want to test this longer.
I keep power limit to 75% in MSI Afterburner for gaming (which is 600w).
I am able to consistently hit ~3200 at 600w max. And the memory is able to boost a lot higher with this. I don’t get why but it does perform better at 600w with this bios.
THE ONLY THING that sucks, is the fan on the GPU itself (single fan) doesn’t spin. So I guess I will have to route that to motherboard fan control.
Otherwise I am happy.
