There’s a huge limited-time deal on Amazon right now that’s knocked 50% off this LG UltraGear gaming monitor’s $449.99 list price, reducing it to $226.99. It’s worth noting that, according to price tracking information via camelcamelcamel, this monitor has been tumbling in price for a while now and hasn’t been at ‘full price’ since early November 2024, but regardless, grabbing an LG gaming monitor with a 300Hz refresh rate, FreeSync Premium, and a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification for under $230 is a big win. This is the type of gaming monitor that will pair well with a solid 1440p gaming PC, and one that’s primarily used for competitive gameplay. That being said, it also boasts impressive color, coming in at 95% DCI-P3 coverage, which is great for video editors and creatives, too.

Key features of this LG 27-inch Ultragear gaming monitor
300Hz and 1ms response time
This is a very high refresh rate for a QHD monitor, and it’s brilliant if you want to game at very high fps. Its response time is pretty standard, coming in at 1ms and not 0.03ms, which is usually the case with more expensive models, but it will still be low enough to dramatically reduce motion blur and ghosting. Especially when coupled with the next feature.
AMD FreeSync Premium
What takes this monitor to another level and firmly identifies it as something for high fps gaming is its FreeSync Premium technology. This is the middle-tier of adaptive sync tech from AMD, and it offers all the anti-screen-tearing and anti-stutter benefits of FreeSync, but with the bonus of Low Framerate Compensation (LFC), to keep things running smoothly even when framerate dips.
VESA DisplayHDR 400 and 95% DCI-P3 color
First off, a DisplayHDR 400 certification indicated that this monitor can reach a minimum peak brightness of 400 nits, has a good contrast ratio, and excellent color. It’s not the highest level you can get, but it’s a lot better than monitors that just have ‘HDR compatible’ or ‘HDR-ready’. Case in point, 95% DCI-P3 color is the minimum required for professional video editing, which makes this monitor excellent for both gamers and content creators.
Dynamic Action Sync and Black Stabilizer
Two features that are designed to improve your gaming experience. Dynamic Action Sync reduces input lag, giving you a more responsive gaming experience, and Black Stabilizer reveals details in darker areas without overexposing brights. Both of these are brilliant for competitive gaming.

Things to consider
This is a good monitor for higher fps gaming, and it does have some excellent color, too, but if you’re after even better picture quality, don’t think QD-OLED options are too far out of reach. Nowadays, there are ‘entry-level’ QD-OLED QHD monitors which can be found for around $350 when discounted. I spotted this Samsung QD-OLED monitor today, for example. If you’re sticking to a firm budget of $250, you may also want to explore other, less mainstream brands to see what you can get. Sceptre, in particular, has some excellent gaming monitors which are great value for money and actually look pretty sleek, too.
