The Lady Hornet softball team split their first two games at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic in Bentonville, Ark. on Friday.  The Lady Hornets scored the final 10 runs of the game to beat William Jewell 10-4 in their first game of the day.  The Cardinals jumped on the Black & Gold with four runs in the third, but E-State got them all back that inning.  ESU scored three in the fourth and three more in the sixth to put the game away.  Brooke Flewelling powered the offense going 2-for-4 with four RBIs.  Chloe Wilson (2-1) pitched 4.1 innings of shutout relief to earn the win.  ESU let game two slip away as Arkansas Tech plated two in the bottom of the seventh to walk off Emporia State 3-2.  An Avery Brewer homer put Emporia State up 1-0 before Taryn Burkhardt scored on an ATU error in the sixth.  The Golden Suns picked up an RBI single in the sixth and seventh before Wilson (2-2) walked in the winning run with two outs.  ESU (5-2) continues action at the Classic with two games Saturday and two on Sunday.
