This Sceptre 27-inch curved gaming monitor is an absolute steal right now, with 24% off cutting its price down from $169.97 to $129.97. It’s also at its lowest price ever, making it a great time to buy, and for under $130, you’re getting a lot here. Notably, this FHD monitor has a very high 240Hz refresh rate and low 1ms response time, which is ideal for high fps gaming. Where it stands out from the crowd, though, is its inclusion of FreeSync Premium, which means you’re getting all the benefits of FreeSync with the addition of Low Framerate Compensation, which is a big win if you’re gaming competitively. A real bargain if you ask us, and an excellent, sleek addition to a cost-effective gaming setup, that’ll deliver the goods without breaking the bank.

Key features of this Sceptre 27-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor

FH7, 27 inches, and curved

This is about the maximum size you’d want to go with an FHD monitor, as picture quality still looks crisp and clear, despite it not being higher resolution. The curve here is 1500R, which is shallower than your typical curve but allows for a slight increase in immersion and eye comfort, all while not being too aggressive to take away from non-gaming tasks like design or watching content.

240Hz refresh rate with FreeSync Premium

This monitor has a very high refresh rate that’s ideal for those looking to game at high frame rates. Not only that, but it features FreeSync Premium, which is the middle tier of AMD’s adaptive sync technology. Like the base offering of FreeSync, it still helps prevent stutter and screen tearing, but it notably adds in low framerate compensation, which keeps everything running smoothly even when framerates drop.

1ms response time

Pretty standard with most monitors, with higher-end options typically having 0.03ms, but still good. Lower response times aren’t about latency, despite the confusing name. They’re actually about how fast a pixel can change color, which is usually from grey to grey (GTG). In this case, 1ms is low enough to reduce motion blur and ghosting, allowing you to easily track what’s happening on screen. In short, it’s great for competitive gaming and ultra-smooth gameplay.

99% sRGB color

This sounds like a lot, but it’s actually quite standard for most monitors. The good thing is that it’s a good sign that colors on this monitor will look very vibrant, which is great for gaming, as it makes everything ‘pop’. For more lifelike picture quality and video editing, higher DCI-P3 color coverage is preferable, mind you.

Integrated speakers

A great addition if you’re looking to either keep desk clutter down or save some cash on your setup.

Things to consider

For the price, this is a great monitor, but it’s not the best for HDR gaming, watching HDR content, or creative professionals. Not surprising, as it’s not trying to be! That being said, if you want something a little more budget-friendly that has better HDR performance, look for monitors with a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. This is sort of like the entry-level into HDR monitors, and there are some pretty reasonable options on the market. Check out our top gaming monitor deals below to see what’s currently on sale.
