Valheim is celebrating its fifth anniversary this week since it took the world by storm in 2021. While the development of the game has certainly been slower than I would like, I still love building and exploring in the wilderness. A new patch for the game went live too, bringing some nice quality of life features, including some big performance improvements on the Steam Deck!
Patch 0.221.10 marks the anniversary with a range of new festive content, some emotes accessible through a new radial menu, fresh hairstyles, and two buildable garlands to decorate with. The Unity engine has also been upgraded with a slew of bug fixes.
As for the Steam Deck, the developers have updated the graphic presets for the Deck so that the Performance mode can now reach 60 fps, battery life has been improved, and the game finally launches at the native resolution on the Deck. While Valheim was Steam Deck Verified already, these are huge improvements for us.
