Hey Everyone,
Just got my Astral 5080 fired up this weekend and did some overclocking. I'm new to OC and UV, so this was a learning process for me but was pretty fun! I kept it simple for the most part, only messing with the curve editor on Afterburner for 1 test. I'll share my results below. I'm hoping to get some feedback on where these results fit into the larger picture of 5080 overclocking. All results gathered using Steel Nomad.
Specs: Astral 5080, 9800x3d, b650e-f, 32G 6000mhz CL30.
Test 1, Baseline: Was able to get a top score of 8754. Was hoping to push 9000 but just didn't have the luck.
Test 2, Overclocking:
Best Score: Core Clock at +405, Memory Clock 2675, Power maxed at 112%. I was able to get a score of 9748.
Anything over 400 was pretty unstable for me for the most part, but I was able to run this test a couple of times and get a result. 9748 was my best score in total. at a more stable Core Clock of +375 I was able to hit 9630. My temps hovered in the mid to high 60's during most of these tests.
Test 3, Undervolting:
This was the test I looked forward to the most. The opportunity to get my card running cooler, using less power, and staying close to baseline performance was exciting. I love efficiency. My best score was achieved by setting the curve to max out at 2800mhz starting at 925mV. I was able to get an 8904 once, which I thought was pretty good. I had a number of scores in the 8700s and 8800s, but only one 8900+!
Ultimately, I think my silicon lottery results were pretty average. Nothing special out of the box, but certainly not the worst either. Increasing my score from a baseline of 8754 to a max of 9748 represented an 11% increase, which is admittedly disappointing. I was hoping to get at least a 13% increase from baseline, but overall the raw numbers don't seem too terrible.
I could be way off on all of this, but I'm a rookie! I would love any feedback and ideas you have. As well, if you could share your results and methodology that would be great!
Thanks everyone, and happy hunting!
