Maingear has a strong reputation for building unique gaming PCs with top-tier performance. Last year, they released a DOOM-themed gaming PC, and before that, we got to see two liquid-cooled gaming PCs from the brand. And now, the company is back with another impressive set of builds, taking us back in time nearly 30 years – when the freshest PC games on the market were blockbusters like Half-Life, StarCraft, and Unreal (later joined by Unreal Tournament).

Retro98 gaming PC announced

The new PC is called Retro98, and as its name already implies, it does not feature a modern look. Instead, it looks like a PC from the 90s, though with some obvious differences. However, while the SilverStone FLP02 case might fool you at a glance, it actually comes packed with some of the most powerful components on the market.

According to Maingear, the Retro98 is for those who “swapped GPUs under the cover of darkness, begged for RAM upgrades for their birthday, and lived for LAN parties.” Inside, it features RTX 50-series cards, including the flagship RTX 5090. As for the CPU, you’ll get the luxury to choose between different X3D chips, including the newly announced Ryzen 7 9850X3D. Cooling is also handled by AIO coolers, which will ensure temps remain low, even during extended gaming and productivity sessions.
