Alex has been getting a lot of attention lately after receiving his gameplay trailer for Street Fighter 6 last week, and it seems he won’t be coming alone.

Capcom just confirmed tonight that they will be implementing a wider balance update for Street Fighter 6 at the same time.

As was revealed in their post, battle balance adjustments are now in the works and will release with Alex on March 17.

Interestingly, there will be changes made to the entire cast, but they don’t say the extent as to which players should expect.

Although Alex is going to have a playable demo soon at the Street Fighter League Pro-JP finals and Taipei Game Show, players won’t be getting a sneak peek at the changes there since Capcom says the demo won’t include the adjustments.

“In the Alex Update on March 17, we plan to implement battle balance adjustments for all characters,” reads Capcom’s statement.

“Since Alex and the overall battle balance are still currently in development, please note that the Alex demo version at Taipei Game Show and SFL JP Grand Finals does not include these adjustments.”

“Thank you for your continued support! We hope you’re looking forward to March 17!”

This announcement comes just a few weeks after Producer Shuhei Matsumoto discussed how they need to reconsider the amount of changes and frequency of their patches for Street Fighter 6.

Although Street Fighter did receive a smaller balance patch in December, the developers noted how players were expecting more at that time.

Aside from those changes, the game’s meta hasn’t changed much since the Season 3 update in June, which has led to some getting bored of the current state of matches.

This does mean, however, the current iteration of the game will be used through Capcom Cup 12 considering Alex is launching just days afterwards.

The timing of that balance update is a bit curious as well since that is coming in March while Ingrid is scheduled for late Spring.

For the past two years, Capcom has released the big seasonal updates with the final character of the prior season between Akuma and Elena, so the Season 4 patch would presumably be coming alongside Ingrid too.

If that’s the case, then users would only be playing on the new balance update for a few months before another comes along and changes the whole cast and game again.

This could point to Capcom aiming to release larger balance patches more often moving forward from now, but we won’t know for sure without further word or action.

Unfortunately, there is no mention of additional Outfit 4 DLC releases for March when SF6 hasn’t received any more new costumes since Mech Zangief in September with C. Viper.

It seems we’ll have to wait and see what Capcom has in store for us all in a little less than two months from now.
