After many years of waiting, 2XKO finally hit its full release last week, but it seems the launch hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for the players or developers.
Riot Games has now released a new hotfix update for 2XKO today to try and address some of the issues while console players are still requesting more improvements.
The small new patch makes a few adjustments though the only one impacting gameplay is to fix Illaoi’s tentacle assist to work as intended.
2XKO has been running into problems with its Ranked online mode since launch, leading to the main offering being temporarily turned off a couple of times.
Now, Riot is saying they’ve adjusted ranked progression to try and make sure players are more fairly matched up against similar skill levels, but it’s coming at a cost.
The team has also made the interesting decision to reset everyone’s online ranks, which probably won’t make those who’ve been grinding the game the most very happy about losing all of their progress.
issues addressed in the latest patch:
-illaoi assist tentacles now work as intended
-ranked reenabled
-ranked progression has been adjusted – in order to ensure we’re placing players fairly, we’ve made the call to reset everyone’s ranks. we know this is frustrating and it’s not…

“We know this is frustrating, and it’s not something we plan to do often, thanks for your patience while we continue to make improvements,” reads the official 2XKO update post.
While it is nice that the devs are working quickly to try and address some of these issues, they have been pretty silent on what many in the community have been continuing to ask about.
Players in 2XKO’s comment sections online have been requesting improvements to the console version of the League of Legends fighter, and especially the PlayStation 5 release.
There are many reports of the PS5 having distracting screen tearing issues while others are making note of performance problems and input delay as well.

It doesn’t appear as though Riot has responded to any of these requests specifically as of yet.
Ranked issues haven’t been the only controversy hitting the game since launch with Riot and Twitch catching backlash for a paltry 2XKO “sponsorship” that may not pay creators anything.
Riot also made the interesting decision right before launch to cut down the amount of 2XKO seasons in 2026 from five to three, however, they still plan to release the same amount of characters this year.
