Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is now entering its second season with new content plus balance update, and it looks like they’re really trying to undercut the competition in terms of pricing.
SNK has officially released the Season Pass 2 for Fatal Fury alongside Kim Jae Hoon plus a new Legend Edition of the game that are all available at surprisingly low costs.
Despite containing six characters, City of the Wolves’ second season pass is being sold for only $20 USD.
That’s only around $3.33 per new fighter, which is way below what their major competition is charging for their DLC.
Street Fighter 6 is selling their Year 3 Character Pass for $30 with four characters equating to $7.50 per DLC while Tekken 8 was priced the same for their Season 2 Character Pass.
This appears to be part of an aggressive strategy from SNK to get more people to play Fatal Fury after they already gave out the first season pass for free with the game last year.
The other part of said strategy appears to be releasing new characters as quickly as possible considering all six Season 2 fighters are scheduled to release on a monthly basis, which is pretty astonishing in today’s development climate.
Whether or not this push will equate to sales and results remains to be seen, but they certainly are trying pretty hard to get more people in the door.
They’re making it even easier for new players too by releasing Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Legend Edition today as well.
This Legend Edition is $50 and comes with the game and both season passes together in one bundle now.
While the game itself seems to be taking the right steps to try and grow its playerbase, the marketing may have pushed some people away with the AI video controversy in Fatal Fury’s Season 2 trailer last week.
Fatal Fury Season 2 is set to include Kim Jae Hoon, Nightmare Geese, Blue Mary, Wolfgang Krauser and two unannounced fighters though one of them is likely to be Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.
