The War Within? Legion Remix? That’s (literally) yesterday’s news. Today is all about World of Warcraft’s patch 12.0, aka the official start of the Midnight expansion cycle. After a six-hour downtime, retail World of Warcraft will come back online at 6:00 p.m. EST this evening with the Midnight prepatch – assuming nothing goes wrong, of course.
There’s an awful lot coming with this patch, including streamlining all class specs, the new Devourer Demon Hunter spec, the ability for Void Elves to become Demon Hunters, the transmog overhaul with unlockable outfits, the new UI replacements for raid mods, a sweeping stat and item level squish, and the start of housing neighborhood endeavors.
Following the prepatch on January 27th will be the pre-expansion Twilight Ascension event that’ll offer catch-up gear and housing decor. Midnight launches in a little over a month on March 2nd.
