The December patch for Street Fighter 6 applied some notable adjustments to Sagat, Elena and Mai Shiranui. However, Capcom recently acknowledged the outcry for an increase in frequency and impact with these sort of balance updates.
Shortly before this, BST|Daigo Umehara expressed some of his own concerns about the lack of meaningful updates. Daigo even mentions that he felt he was being too “naive” before in thinking that Capcom would prioritize rebalancing things that felt “out of whack.”
At one point during Daigo’s stream, he was asked if he had intended to quit using Akuma after Street Fighter League was finished with. Due to the lack of information about what direction Street Fighter 6 is heading towards, Daigo was unable to provide a direct answer.
“I don’t know, really. We’ll have to wait and see how they rebalance the game,” responded Daigo. “It’s tough because we don’t know when those patches will come. Not that that’s anything new.”
From there, Daigo mentions that it now feels like everyone is using Ed. Daigo even speculates that many players might’ve become spiteful in their decision to switch to Ed like this.
“But man, selecting a character is a decision you really can’t take lightly. That’s something this past year really hit home for me many times,” said Daigo.
“They’re not rebalancing things! It’s almost shocking. I realize now how naive of me it was to assume they would rebalance certain things that seemed out of whack.”
