The Raging Demon (or Shun Goku Satsu) has arguably been the most iconic fighting game Super for over 30 years, but not all of them are created equally.
As for which Raging Demons are the best / worst of all time, we now have some rankings that try to break them all down.
Keeganners recently put together a fun new video going through the Raging Demon history and timeline while creating a tier list rating each of them for their aesthetics, creativity and sometimes lore.
This of course all started with Akuma in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, which ends up in the A tier, but the big Super command grab isn’t limited to just the demon himself.
Keeganners goes through every character who has ever used a Raging Demon (or something almost exactly like it) across Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, Capcom vs. SNK, SNK vs. Capcom, Tekken 7 and more throughout fighting game history.
That means the likes of Evil Ryu, Sakura, Dan, Oni, Rogue, God Rugal and even Kairi from Street Fighter EX are included here too.
The first S tier demon actually comes from Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter for its extra flashy hits and ability to use it in the air.
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike is unsurprisingly right up there too.
As for the Street Fighter 4 era, Akuma, Oni hit the top tier too though Evil Ryu is a bit lower.
Despite its early flaws, Street Fighter 5 Akuma’s Raging Demon was certainly not one of them, and Kage’s is good too.
