SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) — It’s Victory Monday for fans of the New England Patriots! The Pats defeated the LA Chargers 16-3 in Sunday night’s primetime matchup in the AFC Wild Card Round. Football fans are excited for their continued playoff run, and so are local business owners.
The countdown to the Superbowl is officially on, and sports bars just like Paddy’s Irish Pub are ready to take advantage of that extra business. While some people prefer to spend their Sunday nights glued to the couch, Patriots’ games usually bring a 20-30% increase in sales for Paddy’s.
General Manager Blake Bryan says the more the team wins, the better. “So, in this time of the year, when it goes into dry January, any time New England sports can make a long run at it… it just, you know, helps local economy grow, so it’s great,” he tells us.
This also couldn’t come at a better time for the business, as they just launched their brand-new pizza place “Paddy’s Pizza,” which has also brought in more sales.
The Patriots will get the opportunity to host one more game at Gillette. Their opponent will be the winner of Sunday’s Steelers vs. Texans matchup.
Who knows how long the Patriots will keep their win streak going, but regardless, Paddy’s is already starting to promote their plans for the big game on February 8th. It’s going to be first come first serve if you plan on catching the game on Wilbraham Road.
