I’ve built this hybrid setup (work and play + music) as an everything setup over the last few years. This is the first time I’m trying double stacked and I’m gonna try rocking it for a year. The main reason I switched other than for aesthetic reasons is mainly because I wanted my main screen in the middle when gaming, I was tired of being angled to the right always. So far I don’t mind the stacked layout but I must say going from looking from side to side my whole life to looking up all of a sudden has been an adjustment I don’t love. Mostly because I actually use the second screen quite often and it’s not just for listening to music or something like that. (Programmer by day).

My biggest gripe with the stacked layout has been camera placement though. I use a DSLR not a webcam so I haven’t been able to properly place it. I don’t like looking sideways when I’m in meetings. It looks like your not paying attention because your not facing forward. so I tried to solve this by getting the Elgato Prompter XL, but I still don’t think it properly serves as an actual 3rd screen although much better than my first attempt at the smaller prompter. It’s especially really hard to see when someone screenshares and I end up needing to drag to the center screen which makes me go back to looking sideways.

Any advice for dual stacked monitor camera placement? Is it time to just go for a single monitor/ultra wide 😳?
