The day that the winter sale ended, I tried to buy cyberpunk and sea of thieves. I was going to use my steam wallet + whatever is left using my card. I accidentally entered the wrong details from memory and the purchase failed, and when I hit the back button to repurchase it I selected the card as the main way to pay without selecting the wallet first. I ended up paying the whole thing with my card, which I didn't want, so I contacted steam support and requested refunds for both of them. I was hoping they'd manage to do it in time before the sale ends so I can repurchase it; they didn't, it took them a day or two, so I figured now I'd just try emailing them and ask for compassion.
Turns out, I don't even need to do that! the first transaction that failed was saved, and they continued the discounts in my cart from the winter sale for 72 hours afterwards!
On top of that, knowing steam, I'd be that even if I didn't have that first failed transaction, and instead just the 2nd bought-and-refunded transaction, they'd still be compassionate if I emailed them. This is how a company garners a good reputation, this is how it's done. They don't just give special treatment to the famous people who go viral, everyone gets treated well.
Hell fucking yeah steam, I never thought I'd say this but maybe there are a few execs in the world with a decent heart.
