My system is relatively high end but I’m noticing stuttering in certain games (especially newer releases like expedition 33 and black myth wukong)

my main theory is that it’s an issue with my vertical GPU mount, as my case uses a pcie gen 4 vertical GPU adapter and my GPU and Motherboard support and are optimized for gen 5
(also the fact that I’m using a GPU adapter at all is probably posing issues.)

before I consider switching cases or buying a gen 5 GPU adapter, I wanna try to diagnose the problem within my setup. I’m on a fresh installation of windows and I turned off PBO so I can first see if my ram is problematic.

It passes all stress tests and the benchmark scores look okay to me. I even loosed up the timings a bit, I was running 28-36-36-36-32 for the longest time and only faced issues in games. But ultimately I’m admittedly fairly new to pc. Any input would be appreciated 🙂

((Another thing to note, I keep my games on a separate drive from my OS. My OS is on a Samsung 990 pro which is a gen 4 ssd, and my games are on a 9100 pro which is gen 5.

My game drive is in slot M_3, and when slot M_2 or M_3 are occupied, my motherboard disables x16 on my GPU and switches to x8.

I had my games in slot M_4 but I switched it after realizing my IO is tied to that slot and it was causing my wireless mouse to behave poorly

I have no clue if my SSD configuration is optimal or not. What I do know is I get the stuttering even with the default expo profile or setting it all to defaults))
