Why didn’t we see some type of drill in Alpha Omega that is supposed to have caused the nuclear explosion that made the giant crater just outside the map on Nuketown?

(Since Alpha is supposed to take place earlier the same day. Also, why does the facility seem to be abandoned already when they get there but then the timeline says them drilling causes it on the same date as nuketown?)
