Booting up Destiny (2014) on the PlayStation 4 in 2025 feels like revisiting the foundation of the modern looter-shooter. Even years later, Bungie’s signature gunplay remains unmatched — every weapon feels crisp, punchy, and satisfying in a way few shooters can replicate. The PS4 version still runs smoothly, with clean visuals and a calm, almost meditative sci-fi atmosphere.
From patrolling the Cosmodrome to striking on the Moon, Venus, or Mars, Destiny’s world design, music, and sense of mystery continue to shine. Public events, Strikes, and cooperative moments with other Guardians still create that unique “shared world” feeling that made Destiny special at launch. While simpler than Destiny 2, the original has a purity and tone many fans still prefer.
