I think my cpu overclock is kind of shit and definitely too aggressive. My SP or silicone rating or whatever is 119 which I think is supposed to be pretty good? I could never figure out good curve optimizer settings so I just cranked the shit out of PBO limits and disabled current limiting and shit to cheat because I’m too stupid to do it right or something. If anyone has tips on cpu I’d appreciate it lol
I’m happy with my ram though and it’s fully stable. Not sure if my CPU is but I don’t plan on keeping it this aggressive I just wanted to test bench marks
PC specs:
• CPU: Ryzen 9 9950X3D
• Motherboard: Asus Rog Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi (latest bios, 1804)
• CPU Cooler: high performance AIO (Lian li ga II LCD)
• RAM kit: 64gb (2x32gb) G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000mt/s CL30-40-40-96 1.4V AMD Expo (part number: F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR)
• GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080
• PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 12 1200W
Case/cooling: Hyte Y70 Touch with all fan slots used
What I did in bios:
1. got my ram tightened fully. Took a day of trial and error. Bank swap mode is set to swap CPU
2. Ai tweaker > precision boost overdrive > disable precision boost overdrive (I found that when it was set to auto, my motherboard would get confused and cap my clock speeds) IN AI TWEAKER set override +200. I set it here AND in advanced > AMD overclocking. Also disabled per core clock limit
3. Ai tweaker > vrm menu > disable vrm spread spectrum > power phase set to extreme (I haven’t experimented with loadline calibration yet)
4. Ai tweaker > tweakers paradise > disable clock spread spectrum
5. Search > “ASPM” disabled both of these, “idle current control” set to typical, “CPPC” set to driver, “SVM” disabled all of them
My motherboard seems limit my EDC too much. When I had my PBO limits set to motherboard, AVX would score super low and neither of my multi thread occt scores would go above average
- Advanced > AMD overclocking > precision boost overdrive > advanced > manual PBO limits > PPT 300000, TDC 230000, EDC 330000 > scaler x10 > +200mhz > thermal throttle limit set to 95 > curve optimizer (this part was tricky. Ended up being happy and stable at CCD0 -28 and CCD1 -22.
The Winfo64 picture was taken during OCCT > benchmark > cpu > run all. My temperature is averaging under 65 Celsius, when I run benchmarks it doesn’t go above 80
I’m honestly not sure if these are even good but I know they’re better than anything I’ve gotten yet lol.
I was only able to hit 5950mhz on my cpu when I had curve optimizer set to -30 on CCD1 and -20 on CCD0 but that wasn’t stable lol. It held through the benchmarks but when I I stopped and went idle my pc would freeze. There might be something to that lol but nah when I re-enable throttling and set pbo back to motherboard I’ll still average around 5750mhz and my temps won’t really go above 50 Celsius so I’m happy with that :))
I think my cinebench scores are kind of shit but I’ve always had a really hard time scoring well on that one. My pc is hybrid, I do a ton of productivity work but I also like to game so I think my setup is pretty optimal, I’d rather score higher multithread if I had to choose one.
