I know it’s a controversial take: “Specialists are way too powerful and there’s “no progression” involved”. I can see that viewpoint but overall, they’re just more fun to use than the BO6/BO7 field upgrades. I’d love to be able to use The Path of Sorrows or Ragnarok DG-5’s on Ashes of the Damned. I’d LOVE to crack a few Zursa’s or OSCAR’s with the Hammer of Valhalla. I think it’d be genuinely fun as hell. The reason I’m not including CW field upgrades is because I also feel the CW upgrade system (perks, field upgrades, ammo mods, etc) is FAR superior to what we have now (RIP my precious Ring of Fire). I feel the past 2 titles is another ironically BO4 moment of “fixing” what isn’t broken by limiting augments on abilities. There’s no variety really, because everyone is still running the meta on these abilities (minus the one percent of people running stuntman on PhD Flopper for argument’s sake). I feel if they implemented CW tier perk and ability system in BO7 to account for the INSANE spawn logic and gameplay loop (at least in higher rounds), it’d still be fun AND a challenge without having to rely on crutch mechanics all the time.
TLDR; I think specialists weapons are more fun compared to field upgrades. I’m not concerned with the possibility of them making it “too easy”.
