Turner has enjoyed a breakout season on the back end of the Cincinnati defense. He leads the NFL in passes defensed with 17 entering Week 15. He had five in Week 6 against the Packers alone, the most in a single game by a Bengal since CB Johnathan Joseph in 2009. His 17 passes defensed rank as the most by a Bengal since CB Leon Hall (24) and Joseph (20) in 2009.
Turner has recorded two interceptions this season, including a diving pick late in Week 1 to help seal a win over the Browns and a Sportscenter Top 10 worthy play against the Steelers in Week 7. Matched up against WR D.K. Metcalf, Turner managed to rip the ball away from the behemoth wideout and come down with the ball himself, setting the offense up for potential points heading into halftime of what turned out to be a 33-31 victory. He also forced a huge fumble at the goal line in Week 14.
“We’ve asked him to do a really hard job each week. Take on the go-to guy, and he’s done it and performed at a really, really high level,” Defensive coordinator Al Golden said. “But, certainly, he should be in the (Pro Bowl) conversation based on his performance, his approach and consistency. Everybody forgets that part of it. Just the consistent part of it that separates you when you get to that level.”
