This is my trusty 3 year old 32gb Mushkin DDR4 3200 16-18-18-18-38 Dual-Rank kit. It is the first memory kit I have overclocked, pretty sure it's Hynix CJR die. I noticed a couple memory chips in each stick that are no longer making contact with the heat spreader. The first 2 chips appear to have a copper shim type sticker on them which is causing the heat spreader to not make contact with the 3rd and 4th chips due to the extra height. It looks like it popped up off of them once the thermal tape lacked the adhesion to hold it against the chips. Would you remove them or leave them be?
tldr; 2 memory chips on each stick no longer making contact with heat spreader. Remove the heat spreaders to replace the thermal tape, remove them for good, or leave them be and not risk it?
