The protagonist is basically the 'break in case of emergency' bogeyman enforcer for a cartel in South-east Asia. After each job, he gets that job wiped from his memory. But as the story progresses, you find out he may be losing a lot more than his recollection of the jobs. Total war ensues. It's very man-on-a-mission stuff. This book legitimately gave me chills in some parts and I read it obsessively till it was done.
Disclaimer: I'm a total T.R. Napper stan. His other works are also must-reads: Neon Leviathan, 36 Streets, Ghost of the Neon God. Soooo good
