‘Outskirts’ is a classic for me and one of my top ten favourite Call of Duty maps. The map flows really well, with fairly long — but not excessive — sightlines for snipers, while the surrounding bridges, houses, and dirt roads give space to flank, fight, or reposition when someone starts letting off shells in one of the two usable German or Soviet tanks. Treyarch absolutely nailed the atmosphere in the entire game and this map in particular shines because of that, offering plenty of variety and ambiance. I’m still waiting on a World at War remaster as it’s been nearly ten years since the Call of Duty 4 remaster thankfully released but after they butchered the Modern Warfare 2 remaster by removing multiplayer — my hopes aren’t high.
