The third competitive season for Street Fighter 6 is already somehow close to coming to an end already, and it’s about time to start looking forward to the big finals.
Capcom Cup 12 is coming up next year, and most of the 48-player pool has been filled out with only a handful of spots remaining open.
As of the time of reporting, there are 40 confirmed qualified competitors for the next Capcom Cup in Japan, so that leaves only 8 places still available.
Those are all going to come from the ongoing Capcom Pro Tour World Warrior finals series of events with Brazil, Asia East, Oceania, Asia, Asia Southeast and Japan up for grabs.
You may have noticed that is only six finals, and that’s because Japan and Asia East are both Super Regions, which get to spots instead of one.
The remaining Capcom Cup qualified players were supposed to be made up of the Capcom Cup 11 champion, the winning Street Fighter League Championship team, the eSports World Cup winner, 8 offline Premiers, 6 from the global leaderboard and then 28 from the World Warrior events, but some changes had to be made.
With the unexpected retirement of reigning champion Kakeru, Reject|AngryBird now has his qualifying spot as the highest placing Capcom Cup 11 participant who didn’t have a spot already.
There will be no last chance qualifier tournament next year either, so these World Warrior events are the last places players can still get in.
It’ll also be interesting to see how many people actually watch the finals next year with the previous announcement that Capcom Cup 12 would be moving to a pay-per-view format, which has not been well-received by western fans — and they still have yet to reveal the price of tickets.
Capcom Cup 12 is set to go down from March 11–14, 2026 in Tokyo, Japan offering $1 million to the winner and $100,000 to second place.
