The Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection has had a bit of a rocky start. Many feel like it launched with numerous missing features that should be a mainstay for modern fighting games. Of course, the developers have been making good progress with input lag reduction.

Digital Eclipse has apparently been working towards getting a lobby system implemented in a future update. Just yesterday, Digital Eclipse announced that a time-limited beta version on Steam is now available to play that includes lobbies.

“Our goal with Online Arcade mode is to replicate the experience of having a large group of players together in a personal arcade or game room. In that room, you will have total freedom and control over who is allowed in, and which games everyone can play,” said Digital Eclipse in a statement regarding this beta release.

“These rooms will support up to 16 participants who can play any mix of games found in the Kollection that support online play. Up to eight matches can happen simultaneously, and players have the option of competing or spectating.”

It’s stated that once the developers feel confident enough about the stability of the lobby system, they’ll begin working to get the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the Legacy Kollection updated with the feature as well. The developers have also promised that lobbies are coming to the Switch version, but it’s going to take a little longer for it to be ready for that particular platform.

Additionally, Digital Eclipse has released some patch notes for this time-limited beta version of the game. There are also some changes that will affect other platforms later on.
