LAURINBURG, SC (WMBF) – The Laurinburg Police Department and the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Division arrested two people on Friday.
The arrests were the result of an investigation into video gaming machine operations within city limits, which led to three search warrants being conducted on Nov. 21.
The first search was conducted at the Smoke Shop located at North Main Street, the second one was conducted at the Laurinburg Food Mart located at Produce Market Road, and the third was conducted at Laurinburg Laundry Xpress located at Produce Market Road.
Officials say that during the investigation, they seized large sums of money, firearms, and video gaming machine motherboards.
These search warrants led to the arrests of Arafat Abuhammoud and Amran Hussein.
Both were charged with multiple offenses, including felony operating a video gaming machine and gambling.
Police obtained warrants for Waddah Ashaif, who is also wanted for multiple crimes, including felony operating a video gaming machine and gambling.
Hussein and Abuhammoud are being held at the Scotland County Detention Center.
Hussein was placed under a $4,000 secured bond.
Abuhammoud is awaiting bond pending immigration status confirmation.
