hi i’m pretty new to ram tweaking in terms of messing with timings and voltages.
recently decided to give it a go, as personally when i had tried cpu related settings and tweaks such as pbo, co, llc tweaking and trying docp/expo they didn’t really do much if anything… co raised all core clock to 4.95ghz instead of 4.75ghz but not really much in term of r23 score improvements which made me think my cpu was underperforming..
i have ADHD and Autism so it’s really hard to just accept without trying everything especially as it’s my chronic hyper fixation (computers in general LOL ) but anyway cpu wise it got really frustrating so i left it for a while and tried optimising other areas such as os turning off windows settings bios updates etc.
temps have always been fine, full utilisation never exceeds 80c most of the time being in low to mid 70s.
cinebench scores with ctt microwin’s iso, nothing auto starting just hwinfo with stock settings and default expo profile gets me to 15.500 – 16.000pts which is really low compared to others.
expo 1, PBO limits set to max and CO -30 even per core offsets with some at -35 and -40 with up to date chipset and latest bios, only gets me to 16.500 pts maybe sometimes touching 17.200pts..
some people are able to reach 18.500pts – 19.500pts without asynchronous overclocking.
anyway so after all cpu related tweaks i ever do slowly gave up and was curious if ram was the issue..
my kit i have is corsairs 16gb x 2 cl36 6000mhz kit (cmt32gx5m2x6000c36 )
the expo profile is set to 36 38 38 76 6000mhz at 1.25v. i bought this back in 2023 sept for £150, i didnt think it was possible to get that bad of a kit at that absurd price (compared to ddr4) so i never thought it would be the issue but as time moved on and i kept hearing about cl30 and cl28 and speeds of 7200mhz+ ?? which made me more curious about ram tweaking.
so far when i first started i focused on lowering primary. the lowest i was able to go to was 32 36 36 64..
(according to buildzoid Tras doesn’t really matter on am5 AS ive heard.. so at the moment i have it at 126 for stability sake)
aida 64 latency on the cache and memory benchmark results is as following:
expo 1 corsairs defaults
can get me to 59gb/s read/write, 79gb/s copy and latency around 76ns
expo 2 n/a couldn’t get it working even raised vddq to 1.43v
i’ve also tried 32 – 36 – 36 – 76 with asus optimised secondary timings (tweaked docp profile) at 6000mhz
and that got me to around 60gb/s read/writes with 80gb/s copy and then 73.3ns
my current configuration is 34 – 38 – 38 – 126
at 6400mhz with flck at 2133mhz
and that can yield me around:
67gb/s read/ writes and 98gb/s copy with latency at 62.5ns.
but now i’m wondering if there’s any optimisations i can make eg going back to 6000mhz? or going higher then 6400mhz etc
my ram also never exceeds
50c mostly hovering at 43 – 45c max when benchmarking or playing
i apologise if this didn’t make much sense i’m not very good in terms of typing.
