The Evolution Championship series has continued to grow and expand for over 25 years now as the largest fighting game tournaments in the world, and we’ll be learning about next year’s festivities sooner than expected.

Organizers behind the massive event have revealed the date and time for the 2026 Evo Announcement Show, which will be here before you know it.

Although we typically see these announcement shows take place within the first few months of their given year, this time they’ll be doing things a bit differently.

Now, the 2026 Evo Announcement Show will be taking place on December 9, 2025 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET.

Here the team is set to reveal information about Evo 2026, Evo Japan 2026 and the 2026 Evo Awards.

We already know the dates for the next big tournaments with Evo Japan 2026 taking place May 1–3 next year with Evo USA 2026 also going down much earlier than usual in Las Vegas, Nevada from June 26–28.

So most of what we’ll probably learn are the fighting game rosters for each events, which should still prove to be pretty interesting.

The biggest titles from the last events will presumably be shoe ins once again including Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and Guilty Gear Strive though things below that may be more up in the air.

Mortal Kombat 1 could lose its traditional spot on the roster after being the least entered game at Evo 2025, but Under Night In-Birth 2 and maybe even Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising could find themselves on the bubble too.

That is in part due to some newer titles that are already out or on the horizon.

2XKO is very likely going to get a slot at the big events, especially given their connection with Evo founders Tom and Tony Cannon.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage is also a strong candidate, at the very least for Evo Japan 2026, with the presumption that Sega is going to want to push their current game hard while also building interest in the New Virtua Fighter Project in the works.

The biggest question mark, however, is Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls since that game would probably be a guarantee under normal circumstances, but it may not be out in time for either event.

Marvel Tokon doesn’t have a solid release date set for 2026, but it would probably have to come out sooner than many expect to be eligible for Evo 2026 at least.

There’s also Invincible VS on the way too at some point next year, so we’ll have to wait and see what the Evo team has to say on the matter.

Hunter x Hunter: Nen Impact could show up again after being at Evo France 2025 though we have doubts about that returning due to its smaller audience.

We’ll have to see as well if Evo will continue their classic title representation after Street Fighter 3: Third Strike and Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

Perhaps they’ll do Capcom vs. SNK 2 for its 25th anniversary. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or Mortal Kombat 9 would be strong candidates too for their 15th anniversaries.

This will also be the first year Evo finds itself under new management again after Sony sold their owning stake to NODWIN Gaming followed by Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya buying the rest from RTS, so it’ll be interesting to see what the future of the series is going to look like moving forward.
