AHSAA teams are playing quarterfinals on Friday in Class 6A-1A while Class 7A is down to the semifinal round. AISA championships will be played on Thursday.
Excellent matchups abound among Central Alabama teams with several games between top 10-ranked opponents.
No. 3 Thompson and No. 1 Central-Phenix City renew their Class 7A rivalry — they’ve met in the past two championship games, each winning once — while Class 6A No. 1 Clay-Chalkville hosts No. 5 Homewood.
Class 2A No. 2 Coosa Christian hosts No. 9 Tuscaloosa Academy.
