The Game Awards 2025 presentation is scheduled to begin on December 11, 2025. Tradition dictates that there should be some exciting game announcements right around the corner.
Leading up to the big date, gamers will have the opportunity to vote on a variety of categories nominated by a number of outlets for the The Game Awards 2025 jury. This date should have the fighting game community’s interest as well.
Just like with previous years, there will be a “Best Fighting Game” category. As implied by the title of the category, fans will be able to vote on fighting games released since The Game Awards 2024.
The nominations for this year are 2XKO, Capcom Fighting Collection 2, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage.
Of course, most of these fighting games are just rereleases of older titles. Due to this, it feels like 2XKO and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves might have an edge over the other candidates, but we’ll see what happens when the votes are tallied.
Another point of interest is the “Best Esports Athlete” category. MenaRD and Kakeru are representing the fighting game community with other nominations including Brawk, Chovy, Forsaken and Zywoo.
