Last weekend at the SNK World Championship 2025 which took place at DreamHack Atlanta, we saw a lot of great action for SNK’s fighting games.
One of the most electrifying matches, though, was the grand finals of King of Fighters 15 between the legendary Falcons|Xiaohai and Comitê|Lauyagami who carried the hopes of all of Brazil on his back and managed to come out victorious over Xiaohai in the end, netting himself the absolutely life-changing $500,000 grand prize for first place.
With an unorthodox team of Ángel, Hinako and Chizuru, it was a very exciting watch and today we’ll be presenting a tier list by the champion for who he believes are the strongest, and weakest, characters in King of Fighters 15 currently.
This tier list was published back in September ahead of the SNK World Championship finals, but given that there haven’t been any balance changes since then it seems safe to assume that Lauyagami still believes this tier list to be representative of the current state of the game.
It’s hard to argue, too — looking at the results of the finals, the character representation adds up pretty well with how the tiers are looking here.
One of the more interesting parts of it is that while Ángel is a very rare character and Hinako isn’t too common either, Lauyagami never believed himself to be a low tier hero, but in fact rated these characters very highly all along and believed in them.

In a roster with a whopping 61 characters to choose from, there are definitely a lot of characters to rank and looking at Lauyagami’s list, many of them end up in the higher tiers showing a fairly high power level across the board.
However, there are also clearly divisions between the tiers, especially when you look at character representation, and the further down you go the rarer characters become. With that in mind, shoutouts to Reject|Score who used Mature in a few sets, a character Lauyagami has second last in his list.
