I've been playing Half Life Alix and its really struck me how imaginative the aliens are in the Half Life series. Not just the breadth (combine, antlions, vautigants etc) but also how good the combine technology comes across. I'm struggling to think of other aliens that come across as original / outside of the expected trope of just high tech. Combine tech being genetics based is just so well executed and feels alien. The wall mounted healer in particular and striders really get me.
Has anyone had a similar feeling for other games where it really feels strangle and alien to look at / interact with the aliens?
