Dear PUBG subreddit,

Context: A couple of months ago I got permanently banned by PUBG, with no reason attached (as is their policy). I reviewed their rules of conduct, and determined I have done nothing wrong. Of course I'll preface this whole post with the obligitory "I have never cheated"…

My goal with this post is not necessarily to convince you of that, but to work out what could have triggered the ban, so that I can resolve it, and demonstrate to PUBG support that I have resolved it. In the face of no additional info from them, this is the best that I can do.

So what could have caused it?

  • Case 1: Hardware

In my opinion, this is the most likely cause.
I got banned on August 29th. My final games leading up to that ban were on August 11th. On August 9th, I installed new RAM, CPU, and Motherboard. On June 6th, I installed a second hand GPU. Before this I had not upgraded my setup in about 4-5 years, running out-of-date hardware that maxed a stuttery 40-80fps in PUBG. It seems pretty 'coincidental' that the ban coincided so closely with my hardware upgrade.

  • Case 2: Software

From reading PUBG's own blogposts: other software, other games anticheat, and other kernal-access programs can interfere with PUBG's anticheat. Is it possible some software I have interferes in some way? I'm not sure. One consideration is that I am a regular player of Valorant as well, which has it's own anticheat. Though clearly Riot's anticheat is much better, as I have not been banned there. As a precaution, I have uninstalled software that 'may' intereact with PUBG's anticheat, including disabling the macro feature on my G915 keyboard, and uninstalling MSI afterburner. I don't know what else I have that could interefere, but feel free to point out other software. I'll also note that leading up to the ban, I do not recall ever seeing the popup seen in PUBG's blogpost listed above (though I won't entirely omit the possibility).

  • Case 3: Match history

To me, this seems to least likely, though maybe an influencing factor. My final 2 games before getting banned were 1sts in squads where I performed above average with 3 and 5 kills in each game respectively. Not crazy. Feel free to check out my match history to consider for yourself. However, additionally, I haved uploaded all 20 of the replays saved on my PC by PUBG, for all to view. I am unable to view the files myself (being banned n all), so I would be very interested to learn what they look like from someone's PoV.

Please let me know what you think, and if you can think of anything else I can consider raising in my follow up support tickets. I'm really at a loss here. I'd also love to see if anyone can view my replays and spot anything weird. Thank you!
