Practically nobody was expecting patch 1.40 for Dragon Ball FighterZ to be dropped considering how long it’s been since the developers gave the game any real attention. Of course, this latest update is clearly just in place to keep fans occupied until SS4 Goku from Dragon Ball Daima is ready (coming in Spring 2026).
Inzem, one of the best Dragon Ball FighterZ players ever considering his victories at CEO 2024 and Evo 2024, recently released a new video talking about how the meta has changed for Dragon Ball FighterZ with this new patch. More specifically, he talked about who he believes are the biggest winners of the update.
Upon his release, Ultra Instinct Goku quickly became the best character in Dragon Ball FighterZ. However, he was heavily nerfed in later patches, resulting in him becoming irrelevant in the previous patch.
Inzem claims that Ultra Instinct Goku was the overall biggest winner of patch 1.40. Of course, it’s important to note that the developers have already noted that they’ll be making a fix directed towards Ultra Instinct Goku’s Unrestrained Will in the next patch, which will likely directly nerf the character once again.
Other big winners of this patch include Android 21, Beerus, Super Saiyan Goku, GT Goku and Hit. We’ll likely see these characters rising pretty high with future tier lists.
Ultimately, Inzem ends up spending 21 minutes talking about the buffs that these characters ended up getting. While every character was essentially buffed in patch 1.40, these fighters’ changes stand out from the rest.
