So, before I get too deep into the meat & potatoes, I want to start by stating that the transition to Unreal Engine 5 has received understandable skepticism from members of the PUBG community. This skepticism is not without it's validity, as many of us have watched in anguish as development studios fumble their releases due to complications relating to the game engine. While most of these difficulties are simply due to their developmental shortcomings and lack of optimization by their respective studios, this has not always been the case. This is especially true during the early days of the gaming engine, when it felt almost unplayable.
Despite these concerns, I firmly believe that if *performed correctly*, your transition to Unreal Engine 5 has the potential to be truly groundbreaking. When your development team has been given the proper tools, management, & creative freedom, they have the potential to produce an unforgettable gaming experience. If completed with care and attention to detail, this transition would be a monumental advancement for your game & bring a much needed boost to your player base not just across the globe, but in struggling regions, particularly the European Union & North America. While these regions are still going for now, their player counts has been wavering these past couple of years. It isn't too late to keep them alive, and it is always easier to keep an existing fan happy, than it is to try & gain a new one. Spending the time & effort it takes to rebuile a player base for your creation isn't something that anyone wants to see.
Next, let's talk about how you can really sweeten the deal for your fan base. Bring back the old Vikendi that your fans knew & truly loved, but with a new and exciting twist. Fundamentally, the original map layout was spectacular & the decision to change it's map design has felt like an overcorrection for its flaws. This has been a hot topic among veterans for years now, as many members of the PUBG community miss the old Vikendi & would love to see it brought back to life. Sure, it had some performance issues that were nothing to joke about, but you can address these problems during the developmental phase.
Bringing it all together and getting to the central purpose of this post, we reach our primary objective. Combining the transition of Unreal Engine 5 and the re-release of the Old Vikendi would be an incredible display of gratitude for your community and it's loyalty while still remaining financially feasible. While your game has gunplay that has been renowned for ages, it's environment and graphical fidelity are really showing their age. Thus, bringing these two ideas and releasing them simultaneously to create a more lively & immersive environment would show that you have the ability to create something truly special. Don't you want to knock it out of the park and show the fans that you are creating the ultimate Battle Royale experience?
Please, just take a moment to imagine the new experience for yourselves. Think about walking in the shoes of a player, as you explore a new & revitalized Vikendi. You are slowly wading through the thick & heavy snow, Kar98 in hand, as you traverse through the snowy forests that surround you. The blue zone is slowly closing in, and you see that there is only one remaining adversary left to fight. Using the tree next to you for cover, it's branches bend to your body's every move and you try desperately to conceal yourself. You gaze into the distance to see what you believe to be the silhouette of an enemy, but as you aim your rifle, the blizzard around you becomes increasingly unforgiving. You raise your rifle slowly, praying you can make out what you've just witnessed. Beginning to aim through your fogged up scope, you hope to land that perfect, calculated and fatal shot to win the game.
Coming back to reality, the point of a battle royale is to immerse it's players and make them feel as if they *are* the character they are playing in an intense battle to the death. Why not expand upon this experience by re-investing in the PUBG vibe that has felt forgotten for far too long?
Remember Krafton, an artist's work which is full of detail, creativity, and ingenuity is what will go down as a piece of history. Don't you want to take your creation from a good piece of art to a legendary one?
Please, give us, your loyal fans, a refreshed PUBG that we didn't even know we needed & after laying our eyes on, decide we can't live without.
P.S. - While this post is about the big picture & the potential future for PUBG, this was far too significant to leave out. Please listen to us when we say that the DMR nerf & SMG buff need to be reconsidered and properly adjusted to better suit the battlegrounds. Thank you.
