TL/DR Apevia PSU bad, old niche CPU/GPU combos are an easy W on 3DMark.
I posted a few weeks ago when I was able to get 3rd so I continued tuning in BIOS and Adrenaline and stuck at 3rd place. After some research I was convinced my issue was my PSU because my PSU (Apevia ATX-PR850W Prestige 850W 80+ Gold Certified) was unable to handle the transient spikes caused by my OC settings. After installing a new CORSAIR RM850e (2025) PSU, I was able to successfully apply the necessary overclock to both CPU and GPU. This was an interesting experience as I had only overclocked NVIDA GPUs previously. For anyone trying to OC their 7700XT (possibly any 7000 series GPU) be very conservative when adjusting the VRAM clock, adjustments that I would consider small caused crashes. Obvoiously I was aware of the quality issues with Apevia power supplies, but I didn't buy it. That 850 Apevia PSU was installed in a prebuilt PC I bought from CyberPower ( I7 13700F/4060 TI 16GB ). I am also aware that this CPU/GPU combo isn't one with much competition in 3DMark, but I'll take every W I can get. Beggars can't be choosers. If anyone is interested I can post my BIOS settings for the CPU, but its a pretty simple CO offset of -15 all core and a few other things tweaked. Thank you for your time, hopefully someone beats my score so I can justify a RAM and case upgrade.
