The Helical Mag for the PPSH was released yesterday. Sadly, it's not really good.

It overheats way too quickly after 69 to 70 bullets with Double Tap Double Time and takes almost 3 seconds to cool down. As soon as you need to hold down the trigger for longer times to kill zombies things start to fall appart.

The Extended Mag 2 makes the gun overall better. Before the mag size increase, you spent a little too much time reloading for my taste, but now it has 133 bullets instead of 103 after PaP, and now it’s a good gun that can hold its own. Only issue I see is that the horizontal recoil is a little harsh. On mouse and keyboard, I like this gun less than I do on controller.

Helical Mag Loadout

  • Optic → Not important
  • Muzzle → Compensator
  • Barrel → CHF Barrel
  • Magazine → PPSH-41 Helical Mag
  • Stock → Infiltrator Stock
  • Laser → Tactical Laser
  • Fire Mods → Rapid Fire

with this attachment the gun has aim down sight spread, so your bullets don’t go exactly where you’re aiming but divide within a small radius. The Strelok Laser is blocked anyway, so Id recommend the Tactical Laser to everyone. It reduces the ADS spread a bit, is easier to use, and slightly increases mobility. For this weapon, it’s definitely the best choice in the laser category. Hipfire could be another option, but I think the hipfire spread is a little too much.

Extended Mag 2 Loadout

  • Optic → Kepler Microflex or whatever you prefer
  • Muzzle → Compensator
  • Barrel → CHF Barrel
  • Underbarrel → Ranger Foregrip
  • Magazine → Extended Mag II
  • Stock → Infiltrator Stock
  • Laser → Strelok Laser
  • Fire Mods → Rapid Fire

On mouse and keyboard, you can swap the Strelok Laser for a Tactical Laser. The recoil pattern is also a little weird, so I’d swap the Ranger Foregrip for a Vertical Foregrip to make the recoil more straight upwards.

Conclusion:

If I could ask Treyarch for buffs, I would significantly increase the number of bullets you can shoot before the gun overheats with the new mag. Should be more than 200, maybe even higher. Leaning more into the hipfire side could also work, give it a hipfire spread reduction so it becomes a bullet hose you can hipfire effectively. Overall, the attachment could be really great if they made some changes.
