Hi all,
I need some advice. Every time I enable XMP in my BIOS, I crash Windows in a matter of a couple of minutes, or the system won't even boot.
I'm not into overclocking – my knowledge extends only to basic computer maintenance – and this is outside of my depth. I've done a factory reset of the BIOS, loaded optimized defaults, and even updated to the latest version. Still no joy.
My specs are:
- Gigabyte B660M GAMING X DDR4
- Intel Core i5-14600K
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED Turbo ARGB (RR-212TK-18PA-R1)
- 2×16GB Corsair Vengeance LED (CMU32GX4M2C3000C15)
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Gigabyte)
- Creative Sound Blaster Z
What happens:
- With XMP on: crashes Windows in a few minutes (pointer errors + random BSODs).
- With XMP off: runs fine.

Any suggestions for what I should try next? I remember back in the day when I built this PC XMP worked fine, but after the latest BIOS updates that included a bunch of microcode updates from Intel that's what has been happening. I'm just trying to get the most of my setup for multitasking purposes, if possible, if not safe anymore then I'll just forget about it.
Thanks, in advance!
