I've been fiddling around with my 7700Xs PBO and Curve optimizers settings after noticing the thing spike itself to 95-100°C anytime it could on stock settings, basically following this guys advice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaOYYHNGlLs
I've been watching temps for about a week now of course and kinda just want a bit of a sanity check on whether I am worrying too much about nothing or if there is something concerning going on
Basically, I set it up at -25 curve and 95/480/640 mW and am now hitting ~85°C max on an Arctic Freezer II 240. Idle at 45°C.
HOWEVER, multi-core Cinebench runs only hits about 70 at the highest, while games, even those with light CPU load, make the CPU run to 75-78°C immediately. Sometimes just watching YouTube or whatever will make it hover at the 75 range for a bit (obviously cause it's doing some background work). Often times closing games and the ~ 1 minute afterwards make the CPU go up to like 83°C+. High demand CPU games also like to hit the 80 range.
My very slightly undervolted GPU (6950 XT) likes to run much lower even on more medium loads, not going above 70 unless the game REALLY demands much from it.
Since I never closely watched temps before this is new to me and just seems off, potentially "what is my cooler doing?! Is it not working right?"-off, but I might just be overthinking it.
TL;DR surprisingly high CPU temps at low and medium loads after Curve optimizing and undervolting, maybe my cooler doesn't work right? Is it normal for a CPU to just get +30°C into the 70s and 80s immediately anytime it does any "work" even just light work?
