Why does the Essex Model 07 feel so good in the fire range, but so shit in game??

Genuine question, and yes I know it has a short 1 shot range, when I'm within the 37 meter range I shoot heads, and past that I go for double chest, but the gun feels like it handles completely different in game to me.. anyone else feel this way?
