Square Enix has shared a new video message from Hirohito Suzuki, the producer of the upcoming turn-based RPG Octopath Traveler 0.
Suzuki also serves as the scenario director and chief producer of the mobile game Champions of the Continent. He emphasizes that despite 0 being an adaptation of sorts for the mobile game’s central narrative, both games are “just like siblings.”
The team is aiming to build “excitement” across both worlds moving forward, with an unspecified special project exclusively for players outside of Japan.

About Octopath Traveler 0
Set before the events of the original game, Octopath Traveler 0 invites players to “start from zero” on a journey driven by personal loss and justice. Unlike previous entries, this installment introduces a customizable protagonist who aims to rebuild their hometown. The narrative is a reimagined adaptation of the main story seen in the mobile game Champions of the Continent.
The iconic HD-2D visuals return, alongside the series’ signature Break & Boost turn-based combat system. New gameplay systems will arrive atop returning mechanics, expanding tactics.
This time around, the scope of party building has been significantly expanded. Players can recruit from over 30 unique characters to join them on their journey.
The game marks a notable shift in format, moving away from the eight-character narrative structure that defined the original and its sequel.
Octopath Traveler 0 will be released for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on December 4, 2025.
