I imagine that they really don't need any other kind of ground vehicles, Hunters, Striders, and roller mines take over the roles the APC might struggle with.
Almost wish they modeled a realistic AGM style launcher for the APC… would actually probably add to the design, but feels like it belongs more on some form of different variant.
There was at a moment a ground transport apc, with no mounted guns or rocket launcher, and it had an extra pair of wheels and it was longer, filling the same purpose as the dropship but by the ground . It never made it to the final game and was scratched but a few mods use it, and tbh it should’ve been the actual dropship
I've always loved the APC from this game. APC, mortar platform, Scout Car, Anti-Riot Van, emergency power-outlet & Police Patrol Car: a post-human jack-of-all-trades.
Just like anything Combine, it is a no-nonsense do-all design, this one: for their colonial police on earth.
As far as I remember: it also has a barrel for shooting missiles forwards. So you are also able do call it "a tank"
I always thought the APC looked unfinished myself. It was kinda too smooth and un-detailed relative to most combine machinery. It looked like a prop meant to be seen from far away.
I know it’s not “hl2” but the personal carrier / POW transport truck seen in alyx, but truly I’m suprised there’s not any smaller atv type traversal “muh teleporter” was enough lol

Just to clarify, when I said "the only ground vehicle present in half life 2", I meant to say it's the only ground vehicle used by the Combine in HL2

Ngl Combine Forces are really lucky Resistance doesn't really use any proper military hardware save for literally one soviet mi-8 helicopter
All your war machines being so vurnable to just few shots from hand me down, dollar store AT-4 is crazy
Can you image if they have more ground vehicles like tanks that would be cool and might be a challenge for half life players & fans

apc is all thats needed to maintain control because the combine redirected heavy weapons else where
Idk if it’s the shiny armour or it’s just missing some textures, or maybe that’s some sort of cut camouflage

technically you can see crab synths in citadel, but other than a prop model, it was never used
Did anyone else waste a bunch of time trying to figure out if these were player drivable on their first playthrough?
I honestly wish we saw more of these even if they were just sitting there at some sort of combine camp or something.
Honestly it seems like just a good all round vehicle, a slightly bigger gun would be better though, something capable of destroying walls and such
