It’s a bit wild to think that the League of Legends fighting game was initially teased all the way back at Evo 2019, but we may finally be getting somewhat close to its actual release.

Riot Games announced today that they’ll have a special 2XKO update to share tomorrow, July 22, along with a new champion reveal for the game.

According to the official post, the update is scheduled to drop tomorrow at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET.

It’ll likely come in the form of a new developer video detailing the next steps for the upcoming tag-team fighting game.

As to what those steps may be, we don’t know yet, but perhaps we’ll learn more about the game’s release date or at least an open beta.

we’re back and heading to evo! come say hey at the 2xko booth august 1-3.

2XKO was previously stated to have a 2025 release date, but there’s been some questions if it’ll actually launch this year, especially since their social media has been silent since the Alpha Lab 2 ended all the way back in April.

Riot also revealed back then that 2XKO would only release with 10 playable champions, and we already know the majority of the cast.

There’s already Ahri, Braum, Darius, Ekko, Illaoi, Jinx, and Yasuo confirmed, so we only have three spots left on the initial roster left to learn.

It’ll certainly be interesting to hear what the developers have to say now with the tag-fighter genre suddenly finding itself much more crowded with competition coming from Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls and other sources now.

2XKO will also be present at Evo 2025 next month running from August 1–3.
